Consumer Credit Legal Centre (NSW) seeks unpaid PLT interns
The Consumer Credit Legal Centre (NSW) Inc. is a specialist community legal centre – we are fearless consumer advocates who are oft-quoted in the media. We specialise in financial services, particularly matters and policy issues related to consumer credit, banking and debt. It is the only such Centre in NSW, and it has a particular focus on issues that affect low income and disadvantaged consumers.
As an unpaid intern, you will be expected to be an essential team player of the Credit and Debt Hotline and the innovative Insurance Law Service. You can also expect hands-on experience in a wide variety of work sufficient to meet the requirements of the work component of your PLT accreditation. You will be required to work from 9.30 am to 5.00 pm on a full time basis.
Your duties will include:
- Assisting solicitors with casework, including court work and tribunal work
- Drafting court documents and legal correspondence

- Initial phone contact on the Credit and Debt Hotline by answering the Hotline phone and making referrals
- Cutting-edge policy submissions including to parliamentary inquiries
CCLC wants to hear from candidates who are responsible, hard working, have attention to detail, keen to gain case work experience, and who are interested in consumer advocacy.
